About

Access + Ability highlights the vital role of accessible design in shaping a more inclusive world. This exhibition brings together a diverse range of products, prototypes, and projects developed to enhance the lives of people with disabilities—tools that support independence, communication, mobility, and creativity.

Organized with the understanding that disability is not a limitation but a difference in experience, the exhibit presents design as a form of advocacy. Through collaboration between disabled individuals, designers, engineers, and technologists, Access + Ability showcases what becomes possible when accessibility is not an afterthought, but a guiding principle.

The exhibit invites visitors to interact with objects that challenge assumptions and expand perspectives: from sleek prosthetics and adaptive gaming devices to everyday items redesigned with universal access in mind. It emphasizes not only what these innovations do, but who they empower—and how inclusive design benefits everyone.

Hosted by the Tweed Museum of Art in Duluth, Access + Ability is part of a broader commitment to making art, design, and culture open and welcoming to all.

Our

We believe that true innovation centers the needs of all people—including those with disabilities—and that inclusive design is essential to a just and equitable society. Through this exhibition, we aim to celebrate the creativity, resilience, and collaboration that drive accessibility forward.
